Notes:
-
Rully sits at the northern edge of the Côte Chalonnaise and is one of Burgundy's most underappreciated appellations for white wine — producing Chardonnay with genuine mineral character and Côte de Beaune-like refinement at a fraction of the price. La Chaponnière is among the domaine's finest village-level holdings.
-
The nose offers white fruits, a hint of citrus, and a lovely floral lift that evolves toward orange blossom with time in the glass; on the palate, a creamy richness is balanced by tangy notes of quince and citrus, with long, mealy flavors carrying through to the finish — textured and complete without ever feeling heavy.
-
Aged with just 20% new oak, which adds body and roundness without ever dominating the fruit — this is the kind of winemaking restraint that lets the vineyard do the talking. Ideal with shellfish, rich fish, or a cream-sauced pasta, and worth having a few bottles in reserve to revisit in two to three years.
