Domaine Jérôme Chézeaux is a small family estate based in Prémeaux-Prissey, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The domaine traces its roots to 1930, when Julien Missery began assembling vineyard holdings in the region. Jérôme took over in 1993 and has remained committed to a traditional, low-intervention philosophy that prioritizes terroir expression over cellar manipulation.
Les Vaucrains is widely considered one of the greatest Premier Cru vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Located in the southern sector of the appellation near Prémeaux, the vineyard consistently produces some of the village's most powerful, structured, and age-worthy wines.
Fruit is harvested by hand and 100% destemmed, with gentle extraction designed to preserve purity and site character. The wine is aged for approximately 18–24 months in French oak barrels, with new oak typically limited to no more than one-third of the élevage. Bottling is carried out without filtration whenever possible.
The vineyard benefits from an east-facing exposure and shallow clay-limestone soils layered over hard limestone bedrock. These conditions naturally restrict vigor and encourage deep root systems, producing grapes with exceptional concentration and mineral intensity. Jérôme owns just over a quarter hectare in this prized site.
Les Vaucrains is often described as the most complete and authoritative of the domaine's Premier Crus. The vineyard's hallmark is its combination of power and precision, where fruit, minerality, and savory complexity are seamlessly integrated into a wine of remarkable depth and solidity.
