Producer: Domaine Ramonet has been closely associated with Chassagne-Montrachet since Pierre Ramonet began building the estate in the 1930s. Today the domaine is run by the Ramonet family and farms an extensive range of vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet and neighboring appellations. While its white wines account for the majority of production, Pinot Noir remains an important part of the domaine: Ramonet owns significant red-wine holdings in Chassagne, including Premier Cru parcels in Clos de la Boudriotte, Morgeot and Clos Saint-Jean. Red Chassagne also has deep historical roots; well into the twentieth century, the village produced considerably more red wine than it does today. Ramonet has continued that tradition alongside its better-known Chardonnay production.
Vineyard: Clos de la Boudriotte is a Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru vineyard and one of Ramonet's principal holdings for Pinot Noir. The domaine farms approximately 1.02 hectares here, with an easterly exposure and soils characterized by gravel and iron-rich marl. Clos de la Boudriotte sits within the southern part of Chassagne-Montrachet, an area with a long history of red-wine production and several important Pinot Noir sites. Winemaking: The wine is produced entirely from Pinot Noir.
