Notes:
- Producer: Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet is one of the benchmark estates of Chassagne-Montrachet, with the family's reputation established by Pierre Ramonet and continued today by Noël Ramonet alongside Anne-France, Clarisse, Michael, and Pierre Ramonet. The domaine farms approximately 17 hectares across 24 appellations, producing roughly 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. While its Grand Cru white wines have made the estate internationally renowned, Ramonet has long been regarded as one of the leading producers of red Chassagne-Montrachet, applying the same meticulous vineyard management, low yields, hand harvesting, and restrained cellar practices throughout its Pinot Noir portfolio.
- Vineyard: Clos de la Boudriotte is a distinct walled (clos) parcel within the La Boudriotte Premier Cru climat of Chassagne-Montrachet. Domaine Ramonet farms an estate-owned parcel planted on gravel and iron-rich marl soils with an easterly exposure, conditions that consistently produce Pinot Noir with depth, freshness, and pronounced mineral character. The 2022 vintage was marked by a warm, dry growing season and healthy fruit throughout the Côte de Beaune, allowing for excellent ripening and balanced acidity. Careful vineyard management and hand harvesting enabled meticulous producers such as Ramonet to capture both the generosity of the vintage and the distinct identity of this historic Premier Cru site.
- Winemaking: Grapes are harvested entirely by hand and rigorously sorted before traditional Burgundian vinification with gentle extraction to preserve aromatic purity and refined tannins. The wine is matured for 12 to 15 months on its lees in French oak barrels, with approximately one-third new oak, adding texture and complexity while allowing the vineyard character to remain at the forefront. Ramonet's measured approach to élevage emphasizes balance, finesse, and transparency rather than overt oak influence.
- Technical Details: Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru AOC; Clos de la Boudriotte monopole parcel within the La Boudriotte climat; 2022 vintage; 100% Pinot Noir; estate-owned vineyard; easterly exposure; gravel and iron-rich marl soils; hand harvested; traditional Burgundian vinification; aged 12–15 months on lees in French oak barrels with approximately 33% new oak; natural cork closure.
- Food Pairing: Roast duck, squab, herb-crusted lamb, veal loin, grilled pork tenderloin, mushroom risotto, beef bourguignon, wild game birds, Comté, Époisses, and aged Gruyère. The wine's combination of vibrant red fruit, fine tannins, bright acidity, and mineral structure makes it an excellent partner for roasted meats, earthy mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses, while its balance and structure provide the potential for graceful bottle development over the next decade.
