Domaine Hubert Lamy 2023
I’m pleased to offer today a re-load on one of Burgundy’s finest producers: Domaine Hubert Lamy.
You may remember my offer from July — most of the wines sold out almost immediately. Lamy has become one of the most sought-after producers in Burgundy, and if you’ve ever tasted the wines, you know why. They display an intensity and precision that only the best producers can achieve.
I believe Olivier is one of the hardest-working vignerons in Burgundy. Great wine starts in the vineyard, and that is where Olivier would most like to be. His organic, biodiverse approach to farming, along with his ideas around higher-density plantings and meticulous attention to detail, has elevated the quality of these wines immensely. It’s not only caught the attention of collectors, but the attention of his peers as well.
He’s one of the most humble producers I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting with, and if you get him talking about what he’s doing in the vineyards, it’s a masterclass in viticulture. I’ve been buying and drinking his wines for the last 25 years, and I have to say the quality continues to improve.
You won’t see any reviews of the 2023 vintage yet, as Olivier (like some other producers) has decided to show only the finished wines to journalists. Based on the track record here and the strength of the 2023 vintage, these are once again a very strong buy.
If you missed these the first time around, I’d encourage you to pick some up today.
Wines are scheduled to arrive at the end of February.
La Princée is a village-level cuvée that showcases the elegance and mineral cut of Saint-Aubin in a more accessible form. This wine is a textbook introduction to the precision and purity Lamy achieves in his whites.
From one of Saint-Aubin’s cooler premier cru sites, Frionnes tends to produce wines of finesse and lift. It’s a wine that speaks clearly of its high-altitude origins and will reward short-term cellaring.
Perched at one of the highest elevations in Saint-Aubin, Derrière Chez Edouard yields wines of exceptional energy and clarity. This is one of the estate’s most cerebral and ageworthy bottlings.
This lieu-dit sits in the northern part of Chassagne, near the border with Puligny, giving it a mineral-driven edge that sets it apart. The 2023 is aromatically expressive, showing ripe citrus, stone fruit, and faint spice. Broad yet refined on the palate, it balances richness with a polished structure, finishing with lingering notes of chalk and lemon curd. A serious, nuanced expression of Chassagne terroir.
Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" 2023
Among the most prestigious Saint‑Aubin 1er Crus—frequently described as a benchmark for the appellation for its minerality, structure and finesse. 2 ha in two parcels planted from 1989—one perched above Chevalier‑Montrachet and the other bordering Chaténière. The soils range from clay‑limestone to almost pure limestone, contributing both ripeness and sharp tension in the wine
A tightly enclosed 1.25‑hectare site within the larger Chaténière, planted circa 1964 and effectively a monopole for Lamy—the only grower to bottle under this specific lieu‑dit name. One of Lamy’s benchmark wines, recognized for its purity, depth and consistency among his top Saint‑Aubin bottlings
