Borgeot Chardonnay
A couple of weeks ago I sent out an offer for Domaine Borgeot Santenay, it was a 100% sellout! Since then, I’ve received numerous calls from clients hoping to order more and sadly to report the importer does not have a single bottle.
Borgeot is one of those domaines I’ve been quietly working with for the last eight years, and every vintage they continue to overdeliver. The wines are pure, precise, and offer a mineral-driven quality, along with the lip-smacking acidity that makes Burgundy so compelling. And the best part? Even with tariffs and everything else happening, Borgeot still manages to come in at a price point every Burgundy drinker can afford.
Today I’m featuring their 2023 Bourgogne Chardonnay, and I have to tell you, this is exactly the kind of wine I look for and absolutely love drinking. I don’t know about you, but there’s always a bottle of white wine in my fridge, and this is the one I’ve been reaching for most over the last few weeks.
It opens with a bright, citrus-leaning nose. On the palate, it’s crisp, linear, and incredibly refreshing. Light on its feet but not simple, it has plenty of energy and surprising complexity for a wine at this level. I enjoyed a bottle last night, and as I write this my mouth is starting to water thinking about the flavors. Absolutely brilliant!
And honestly… I’m still amazed I can sell this for $27.
If you missed the Santenay, don’t make the same mistake twice. This is one of the best values in white Burgundy I have in the shop. Do yourself a favor and pick up a box of this… you can thank me later!
