Notes:
- Producer: J. Charpentier is a family-owned grower Champagne estate based in Villers-sous-Châtillon in the Vallée de la Marne. The domaine was founded in 1855 and is today managed by Jacky and Jean-Marc Charpentier, representing the fifth generation of the family. The estate farms approximately 24 hectares across more than 70 parcels, with vineyards located in Reuil, Villers-sous-Châtillon, Binson-Orquigny, Le Breuil, Châtillon-sur-Marne, Neuville-sur-Seine, and Ludes. Pinot Meunier is the principal grape variety of the estate, reflecting the Vallée de la Marne's traditional plantings. Vineyard management focuses on maintaining biodiversity through cover crops and reduced chemical inputs, while reserve wines are retained to preserve consistency across non-vintage cuvées.
- Vineyard: Réserve Brut is produced from 80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir, sourced from vineyards in Reuil, Binson-Orquigny, Villers-sous-Châtillon, Le Breuil, Neuville-sur-Seine, and Ludes. The blend incorporates fruit from multiple villages and at least two harvests, together with reserve wines maintained by the estate. The predominance of Pinot Meunier reflects both the estate's vineyard holdings and the historic importance of the variety throughout the Vallée de la Marne. Individual parcels are harvested separately before blending to produce the house's flagship non-vintage cuvée.
- Winemaking: Primary fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by full malolactic fermentation. Reserve wines, stored in both stainless steel tanks and large oak vats (foudres), are incorporated into the final blend. The wine is composed of at least two harvests, with a portion of the blend matured in oak before bottling. Following tirage, the bottles age 30 to 36 months on the lees prior to disgorgement. The current release is finished with a 5.8 g/L Brut dosage, preserving freshness while maintaining the estate's fruit-forward house style.

- Food Pairing: J. Charpentier recommends serving Réserve Brut as an aperitif or with cold salmon, halibut, shellfish, warm pâté en croûte, or a charcuterie buffet. The combination of Pinot Meunier fruit, moderate dosage, and extended lees aging also makes it suitable alongside light poultry dishes and seafood appetizers.
