Producer: Adrien Renoir represents the fourth generation of his family's estate in Verzy, taking over vineyard management in 2015 and releasing his first estate wines under his own label beginning with the 2019 vintage. The domaine farms approximately 7 hectares, all within the Grand Cru village of Verzy, and has been certified organic since 2020. Renoir has quickly become one of Champagne's most exciting young grower-producers, focusing on single-vineyard, terroir-driven Champagnes.
Vineyard:Les Épinettes is a single Grand Cru parcel in Verzy, planted exclusively to Pinot Noir in 1973 using massal selection. The vineyard sits on deep clay over Campanian chalk, with a northwesterly exposure that promotes slow ripening and preserves acidity. The combination of mature vines and chalk-rich soils consistently produces wines of remarkable concentration, structure, and mineral precision.
Winemaking: Produced from 100% Pinot Noir, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged entirely in neutral French oak barrels to preserve site expression. Full malolactic fermentation is completed naturally, and the wine spends approximately 36 months on its lees before disgorgement. Bottled with minimal intervention and no fining or filtration, the focus is on purity, texture, and transparency.
Technical Details: Champagne Grand Cru AOC; 100% Pinot Noir; Extra Brut (0.8 g/L dosage); approximately 36 months sur lie; fermented and aged in neutral oak barrels; organically farmed fruit from a single Grand Cru vineyard in Verzy.
Food Pairing: Roast chicken, duck breast, veal, lobster, seared scallops, tuna, mushroom dishes, Comté, and aged Parmesan. The wine's combination of Pinot Noir power, chalky minerality, and low dosage makes it equally compelling as a gastronomic Champagne or alongside refined seafood and poultry dishes.
