This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction and in this case it's enough to dominate the fruit. On the palate though there is fine volume and more evident power if perhaps not quite the same refinement on the firmer, more austere and more compact finale. Like the Goulots, this is potentially outstanding. Burghound 91-94 Outstanding!

The vines were planted in 1928, on the flat in the quarry, but surrounded by walls of rock. A rich bright purple. Huge energy. Very stylish on the palate, glossy yet complete, darker fruit here with a little pepper at the finish. A really impressive fine long finish with great depth. Drink from 2030-2036.
