The 2016 Barbaresco Rombone is a dark and powerful yet transparent wine with notes of incense, macerated black cherry, plum, lavender, spice, leather, licorice, sage and menthol. Powerful, deep and super expressive, it shows tremendous depth, character and nuance as well as all of the power that is typical of this Treiso site. I can't wait to see where this bottling goes in future vintages. Medium in body but also quite tannic and structured, the 2016 needs a few years in bottle to start becoming approachable.
