By John GilmanView From the Cellar(11/1/2011)(Nuits St. Georges Chaignots- Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg) The sappiness from low yields that is so much in evidence in the best wines of 2010 certainly defines the Mugnerets Chaignots in this vintage, as the wine offers up a stunning nose of black cherries, a touch of blood orange, plums, dark chocolate, a wonderfully complex soil signature, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure and tangy, with a great core of fruit, ripe tannins, impeccable focus and balance and a very, very long and laser-like finish. Young Nuits St. Georges simply does not get any more elegant than this wonderful 2010 Mugneret Chaignots. (Drink between 2018-2040) 93+ points

The delicious, intense and vibrant flavors possess a sophisticated mouth feel as the supporting tannins are dense but fine, all wrapped in a delicious and lingering finish. Despite the refinement of the mid-palate the Nuits muscle shows up on the finish though there is no rusticity. (Drink starting 2020) 90-92 points
