Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 10Full, bright medium yellow. Very smoky aromas of minerals and silex perked up by lemon zest. Almost painfully intense on the palate, and yet there's also an exhilarating sucrosite that's totally supported by the wine's tactile flinty minerality. Wonderfully classy wine with no sign of overripeness. This one struck me as a shape-shifting solid masquerading as a liquid today; it has the chewiness and structure of a red wine. These vines were harvested on September 10, which is early by the standards of Corton-Charlemagne in '09. 95-97 points
