Notes:
There is plenty of wood toast combining with the overtly spicy, earthy and largely mature red and dark currant aromas. The supple, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors possess obvious weight in the context of what was in general a lighter vintage, all wrapped in a lingering, sappy and palate coating finish. I personally find the wood toast to be over done with this wine but that's a stylistic preference as everyone at the table loved this wine so your mileage may vary. Note that for my taste the '07 TVV has arrived at the front edge of its peak drinkability though it should easily be capable of holding for years to come if properly stored. Medium-deep red. Black raspberry, licorice and a wild meaty nuance on the nose. Intensely flavored, young and concentrated; like a liqueur of black cherry and black raspberry fruit, but lifted by violet and spice notes. Very dense, chewy and ripe wine with a long, sweet, generous, extract-rich finish. Deceptively tastable for a young Charmes from Roty, but it's hard to believe that this wine won't shut down in bottle at some point. Vinous/Steve Tanzer 93
