Notes:
Edgier and spicier with more obvious acidity yet with the same gorgeously textured flavors and explosive aromas of black fruit and earth. The depth is most impressive with its slightly animale character and completely buried tannins plus a remarkably refined, persistent finish. There is really impressive overall fruit/acid balance here as well and given the structure, this should require 7 to 10 years to be at its best. 91 points - Burghound Jan '04

Full ruby. Wonderfully pure nose combines raspberry, cherry and smoked meat. Densely packed but pure and expressive, with primary, almost peppery flavors of red fruits and licorice. Very powerful wine verges on painful today. Finishes extremely long, with firm tannins and a smoky quality. I would have scored this higher but for a touch of rawness in the middle palate. 91+ points
