The 2000 Brut La Grande Annee shows incredible elegance and finesse in a mid-weight, totally sublime style. The wine remains fresh and nuanced throughout, with a polished mousse and exceptional overall balance. Notes of toastiness come to life on the long, creamy finish. The Grande Annee is 63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay sourced from 76% Grand Cru and 24% Premier Cru vineyards. This bottle was disgorged in January, 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020. 93 points

Not surprisingly, this resembles the 1999 except that it's less expressive with developing aromas of floral, lemon and brioche that complements well the pure and detailed flavors that are less concentrated than its older brother but just as long. I like the elegance and finesse but wish it had just a bit more mid-palate density. 92 Points

Vanilla and nuts dominate the nose on this wine. The palate is full of concentrated nuts, spiced orange liqueur, and juicy pears. While this description may sound intense or over the top, the wine isn't. It starts off intense, but then moves into a nice, relaxing spot where everything comes together and gains some orange-led brightness. With air and warmth this really shows its charm, as the orange and pear notes gain a bright and sunny edge. Following other recent vintages from 1996 forward, this is drinking very well right now.
