Aurelien Suene is one of the most highly sought after producers in the grower Champagne category, representing the 5th generation of wine making families in the Cote des Blancs. Aurelien took over winemaking in 2009 and implemented an organic farming philosophy with a minimalist approach and a goal to produce wines of purity and precision. The chalky terroir of his Grand Cru vineyards are allowed to fully shine through.


The Oiry Extra Brut has incredible freshness, excellent volume, dimension and that underlying chalky persistence. Chardonnay is on full display. All the qualities in this wine will help you understand why producer Aurelien Suene is sought after by Champagne connoisseurs throughout the world.


It is vinified and aged for 10 months in a combination of wood and enamel tanks and spends 2 years on lees under natural cork - including approximately 50% reserve wine from previous vintages.


This is a style of Champagne I never seem to get tired of drinking, nor do my customers. Unfortunately, production is around 1000cs for this cuvee, so naturally my allotment is also quite small.

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Oiry Grand Cru is a pure Chardonnay. Creaminess, fresh and crusty baguette and Golden Delicious apple unite on an enticing nose with a bright apple frisson as an avertone. Slenderness and delicacy define the body, but the flavors are full and almost generous. They evoke creamy porridge, mellow, freshly peeled yellow apple flesh and a lovely sense of saltiness that has the ocean tanginess of an oyster shell. The longer you savor this, the saltier and more enticing it becomes: enfolding and oh-so-chalky. This Extra Brut i and captivating, with a totally appetizing umami finish. Disgorged: January, 2023.
