Rose - 2025

Rose 2025

The 2025 Rosé season is upon us with the arrival of two of our favorites: Clos Alivu Patrimonio and the Rosé of Pinot Noir from Paul Thomas. These have become two staples in our annual Rosé offerings, and for good reason — both are fantastic!

I introduced you to the Clos Alivu with the 2023 vintage, and it has quickly become our #1 requested Rosé wine over the past two years. After consuming 3+ bottles this past weekend, I can only assume that trend will continue. The wine is again tremendous!

This is a wine hailing from the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean, made with the local grape called Niellucciu. I know that name will sound unfamiliar to most, but it is a local name given to a varietal that shares similar DNA to Sangiovese. Sangiovese grown in Tuscany tends to lean into structure, acidity, and that classic cherry and earth profile. Niellucciu in Corsica, especially grown in the coastal region, softens a bit. You still get the red fruit and backbone, but there's more sun, more salt air, and often a slightly rounder, more Mediterranean feel. This is a sophisticated Rosé what I can only describe a the perfect color, that is an absolute pleasure to drink. I always tell people, make sure you have a second bottle chilled, because you will be amazed at how fast the first one disappears!

The second wine to arrive this week is the Sancerre Rosé from Paul Thomas. This is a wine I began buying what must now be 20 years ago, after a visit to the estate. I love Rosés made with Pinot Noir. This is a wine that is light and delicate, showing beautiful red fruit and orange peel nuances that keep you yearning for another sip. Its a sophisticated wine for those looking for an elevated Rose experience.

I buy these Rosé wines as much for myself as I do for my customers. I end up drinking quite a few bottles from my Rosé stock, as I find there is almost nothing better either after work or on a lazy afternoon — the exception being perhaps Champagne! I focus on a handful of top-quality Rosés that are all about sophistication and class. You can buy any of the Rosé wines I have for sale with complete confidence as these are all wines I'm proud to drink and serve in my own home.

Note: Our shipping season for Rosé wine is rather short, as by early June it will most likely be too hot to send these to most of you. Place your order today to make sure you have some of the best Rosé of the season on hand!
