Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Mouchere" Monopole 2024

Henri Boillot

centered around quantity, as we are seeing one of the smallest vintages in a generation. Producers that usually report yields of 35–40 hectoliters per hectare are now reporting yields in the single digits. What does that really mean?

It means there is hardly any wine. Allocations are almost laughable. On more than one occasion, I’ve asked, “What am I supposed to do with three bottles?” Well, like I used to tell my kids, “You get what you get and you don’t get upset!”

In all seriousness, the 2024 vintage, especially for the whites, is extraordinary. The well-sited vineyards on the slopes managed the onslaught of rain better than anyone could have anticipated, considering it seemed to never let up. As long as the vigneron was able to control the mildew, the small amount of fruit left on the vine ripened beautifully, with incredible concentration. The result is classically styled White Burgundy, with minerality and acidity front and center.

I’m encouraging clients to buy these wines early, as most will be sold out long before they arrive. The track record at Boillot has been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the past decade, Henri Boillot has consistently produced Grand Cru–quality wines from his favorite vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère. Expect nothing less this year.

Wines expected Summer 2026. Secure the wines today - you will be glad you did!

Includes some purchases below Meursault and Puligny. A mid lemon yellow colour, lively and concentrated, candied citrus, fresh plum. Very lightly reductive. There is a spicy character too, but the fruit energy drives on through. We are flirting with 2014 says Henri. Drink from 2027-2029. Tasted Oct 2025.

- Jasper Morris, 87-88

Mid lemon yellow. Flint on the nose with a firm concentration behind. Almost smoky alongside a concentration of fresh white fruit. Steely acidity and very persistent. The only plot which did the full yield, yet in no way dilute. Drink from 2028-2031. Tasted Oct 2025.

- Jasper Morris, 91-92

Vibrant mid lemon yellow. More perfumed, rather than electric on the nose, but the electricity shows up clearly in the mouth. Pure white fruit with a riper mandarin note hovering. Very clean and clear cut on the palate, with great persistence. Makes one salivate. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Oct 2025.

Jasper Morris, 92-95

Mid yellow. There is a little touch of patisserie on the nose, showing the additional breadth of fruit on Henri Boillot’s favourite vineyard. That’s what gives the gourmandise to the wine, says Henri. This seems to have all the aspects with an excellent mineral backbone holding the fruit together. Lime blossom and acacia he finds, from the adjacent trees which flower at the same time. Very fine long finish. Drink from 2030-2036.

Jasper Morris, 93-96
