The 2023 Aloxe-Corton La Coutiere ler Cru, which sees 30% new oak, has an earthy, austere nose that has a tough time following Magnien's seductive Gevrey cuvées. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh with crisp tannins and a touch of orange rind interlacing the dark berry fruit on the finish. This will serve you well for six or seven years. An attractive crimson ruby. My first impression is that the fruit is a little more dilute here, but it comes out very attractively on the palate, more strawberry than cherry, with light and fine tannins, a little oak to finish. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024. Jasper Morris 89-91
A ripe, fresh and overtly sauvage-inflected nose is comprised mostly by various dark berry aromas. The succulent, round and delicious middle weight flavors possess good volume and focused power before concluding in a lightly stony, rustic and compact finale. This is very Aloxe in style without being over-the-top rustic. Burghound 89
