A deft application of wood is present on the notably spicier nose of mostly various dark berries. The delicious medium-bodied flavors are not particularly dense but they are noticeably more refined and particularly so on the lightly stony, balanced and lingering finish where the wood telegraphed by the nose reemerges. Aromas of cherries, cassis and rose petal preface the 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots, a medium-bodied, supple and floral rendition of this northern Nuits premier cru. It will offer a broad drinking window. William Kelley 90-92
