A more reserved nose grudgingly reflects notes of poached plum, earth, plenty of sauvage character and interesting whiffs of crushed star anise. There is a bit more minerality present on the vibrant and intense medium weight plus flavors that possess excellent delineation that carries over to the firm, compact and tautly muscular finish. This youthfully austere effort is going to require extended patience as it's both backward and very tightly wound yet oh so promising!  Burghound 93-96 Don't Miss Outstanding!

The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains is inky and serious, unwinding in the glass with notions of dark berries, cherries and plums complemented by subtle hints of rose petal and violet. Full-bodied, layered and muscular, with an imposing chassis of rich, powdery tannins, this will, as ever, reward patience.  William Kelley 93-95
