The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (Domaine Louis Jadot) is rich and muscular, bursting from the glass with aromas of cassis, orange oil, warm spices, woodsmoke and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with tangy acids and a penetrating finish, it's a fine success. William Kelley 92-94
A decidedly sauvage-inflected nose is once again quite restrained and this requires aggressive swirling to eventually coax the aromas of violet, wild berries and plenty of earth character to reveal themselves. There is solid volume, power and evident muscle to the larger-scaled flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the impressively long finale. This isn't as refined as the Estournelles St. Jacques but it a good deal more powerful.
