Very dense purple with an explosive deep pinot on the nose. Fortunately, not too high octane, at 13.7%, and with very good acidity, 3.30pH after fermentation, which not only saves the day, but delivers an exciting wine with very good potential for ageing. Ripe aromas include those of plum, dark raspberry and plenty of Savigny style earth. The decidedly supple and forward flavors are almost easy-going though the youthfully austere finish tightens up. The finish does flirt with dryness though I suspect that it will round out as the tannins do seem ripe. Burghound 86-89
