Description:
Burghound (Allen Meadows) 91-94 "Sweet Spot. Outstanding."
"Here the wood regimen is no longer subtle though it stops short of masking the beautifully layered aromas of plum, spice, dark currant and freshly turned earth. The highly energetic and delineated middle weight plus flavors exude noticeable minerality on the powerful and focused finish that displays outstanding depth and persistence. Moreover, the finish really fans out as it sits on the palate." (January, 2019)
Vinous Media (Neal Martin) 91-93
"The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers comes from Faiveley’s substantial four-hectare parcel. I find this has more gumption and detail than the Lavaux Saint-Jacques at the moment. The nose features layers of blackberry, raspberry and crushed stone aromas, and the sweet, candied palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. Blood orange and quince infuse the red fruit toward the finish. Excellent." (January, 2019)
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 91-93
"Domaine Faiveley now possess fully four hectares in this appellation, and the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is excellent, unfurling in the glass with aromas of small wild berries, spices, bergamot and espresso roast. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and gourmand, with velvety tannins, a plush core of succulent fruit and a long, expansive finish." (January, 2019)
Winehog (Steen Öhman) 91-93
"Les Cazetiers is sweeter and more lush than it seems. The bouquet offers plenty of fruit - fresh berries - lovely perfume - with that nice Cazetiers minerality. On the palate, vivid fruit with a fine balance - lovely drinkability. Classic 2017. Drink from 2027." (12/27/18)
