Inside Burgundy (Jasper Morris) 91

“Pretty, fairly full yellow with a green tint. Medium bodies, not over ripe, yet with very good flesh while retaining some tension. Maybe some banana fruit wants to escape but the apple holds it back. Not hugely characterful but a good rendition.” (November, 2018)

Vinous Media (Stephen Tanzer) 91-93

“Bright, light yellow. Classic aromas of lemon drop and white flowers. More linear and discreet on the palate than the Chenevottes, but already conveys lovely perfume to its grapefruit pith and crushed stone flavors. Offers an impression of density without weight and finishes classic, dry and long but youthfully tight, with dusty minerality and a light touch. Like the Chenevottes, this will need time. (The Vergers, Clos Saint-Jean and Morgeot were at the end of their sugar fermentations and were impossible to taste.)” (September, 2018)

“From vines that overlook the domaine, the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie combines some of the qualities of Chenevottes and Vergers. On the nose, it's comparatively exotic, suggesting notions of mandarin oil, ripe pear, honeycomb and white flowers. But in the mouth, this medium to full-bodied wine's satiny attack gives way to a tense, incisive mid-palate and finish. And that's quite typical of Moreau's Maltroie.” (January, 2019)
