"A wonderfully fresh, cool and airy nose features scents of black cherry and earth with a floral top note that are trimmed in subtle but not invisible oak. There is fine mid-palate density and minerality to the delicious, intense and serious flavors that are also shaped by a firm tannic spine that will require at least a few years of cellaring to soften enough such that this will be sufficiently civilized to enjoy."

"The 2015 Perrière from Philippe Harmand is excellent, and interestingly, this was raised in less new wood than the Vieilles Vignes this year (thirty percent). The wine is pure and refined on both the nose and palate, with the excellent bouquet wafting from the glass in a lovely combination of cassis, dark berries, black minerality, dark chocolate, incipient notes of grilled meats and a deft framing of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and utterly classic in profile, with a fine core of fruit, great backend mineral drive, fine-grained tannins and a long, poised and tangy finish. This is a superb example of this underrated and beautiful Gevrey premier cru."

"The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Perrière is a lovely, chiseled wine from this cool climat, wafting from the glass with a sapid bouquet of coniferous forest floor, wild black fruits and Griotte cherry. On the palate, the wine shows great focus and tension, with a concentrated mid-palate, and a fine-grained, chalky finish."

"The first stop on Harmand-Geoffroy's tour of Gevrey premier crus, "La Perriere" is nestled just below grand cru Mazis-Chambertin on the slope, immediately north of the premier cru section of "Clos Prieur." The family owns a third of a hectare of 50-year-old vines here, which typically yield a chiseled wine of great finesse. Indeed, the 2015 shows a markedly cool personality for the vintage, with a lifted impression of menthol and exotic spices on the nose, and a driving, red-fruit-dominated palate. 40% new oak."
