This is very complex with smoke, meat, cherry and spice character that follows through to a full body. The palate grows with more spice and polished tannins. A fantastic wine. Drink in 2020. James Suckling 95

($50) The 2015 Poggio Valente is 100% Sangiovese aged in 500 and 600-liter barrels. Powerful and ample on the palate, the 2015 delivers serious flavor intensity as well as character. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, smoke and spice build in a wine endowed with notable richness. It will be interesting to see where this wine goes in the future, especially in years that provide the natural materials to make wines with a bit better balance and harmony. All that said, the 2015 is terrific.  Vinous/Galloni 90
