“There is notably more classic Chablis character present on the pear, apple and lemon rind-scented nose. The Chablis elements continue onto the relatively refined and overtly stony flavors that exhibit a hint of salinity on the saliva-inducing finale. Lovely stuff.” (October, 2016)

“Pineapple on the nose, lifted by a strong floral quality. Impressively pure and energetic, with brisk acidity and mineral cut giving the lemon and stone flavors terrific precision. Really stimulates the salivary glands on the juicy finish. Droin suggests drinking this wine early for its fruit and energy or waiting seven to ten years, adding that he expects it to go through a closed period in the middle.” (July, 2016)

“Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, the 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons, bottled under DIAM 5, was never my pick of Benoît's wines in this vintage. Here it has a slightly ephemeral nose that needs to express more terroir, more mineralité. The palate is nicely balanced with a touch of rosewater and blackcurrant leaf on the entry, moderate weight in the mouth with an initially slightly soft finish that becomes more sour in the glass.” (October, 2017)
