Notes:

nky ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes mineral-tinged dark fruit preserves and incense, and a sexy floral element gains power with air. Fleshy, seamless and sweet, offering intense blueberry, cherry liqueur and floral pastille flavors enlivened by juicy acidity. The floral note comes back emphatically with air and carries through an impressively long, youthfully tannic finish, which leaves a smoky mineral note behind. The alcohol here is quite low for the region, clocking in at 14.3%.  Vinous Media 93-95

Not yet bottled, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is one of the few inky colored wines in the vintage. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and ripe with notable tannin, it offers beautiful notes of blackberry, shitake mushrooms, licorice and pepper meats. It plays in the 2014 vintage’s forward, supple nature, but has real depth and concentration. I don’t think it will be the longest lived Beaucastel, but it will have 15-20 years of overall longevity.  Wine Advocate 92-94
