Notes:
This is the kind of white that puts a smile on your face at first sip. Textured and exceptionally pure, "Les Longeays" is Macon Chardonnay at its apex. Born into an established winemaking family in the Maconnais, Marie-Pierre Manciat became the sixth generation to take over the family biz in 2002 (the estate has been in existence since 1871). Up until the 80's, the juice was largely sold off in bulk to local negociants. Then her father Claude took the helm and resurrected the domaine to its proper pedigree and potential with the use of meticulous viticultural and vinification standards. Though Pouilly-Vinzelles possesses significantly less renown than its neighbor Pouilly-Fuiss, some outstanding values can be found as a result - the QPR can't be beat. With a solid 90 point score from Parker this is the kind of wine you buy by the case!Similarly styled, but with more earthy and honeysuckle characteristics is the richer, light straw-colored 2010 Pouilly-Vinzelles Les Longeays. Honeyed melon, lemon, citrus oil and marmalade notes are accompanied by fresh acids as well as a medium-bodied, pure, virginal mouthfeel. Wine Advocate 90
