Notes:
John Gilman's View from the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2010.
The Chaignots had just been racked into tank in preparation for bottling in early January, but was still showing just beautifully in early December. As readers will see below, I tasted absolutely brilliant examples of Chaignots from the top estates in Nuits St. Georges as well, and it is clear that the elegance of the 2009 vintage has perfectly dovetailed with the style of Chaignots to produce a bevy of outstanding examples this year. The Mugneret 09 Chaignots offers up a beautiful and sappy nose of red and black cherries, a touch of nutskin, lovely soil tones, raw cocoa, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, refined and very pure, with a great core, beautiful transparency, tangy acids and fine-grained tannins on the long and classy finish. Just a beautiful bottle of Nuits in the making. 93 points.
Allen Meadows' Burghound, January 2011.
A lightly spiced nose of red currant cassis and violet aromas is trimmed in soft wood notes that precede the supple and moderately well-concentrated yet relatively fine medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent depth and length in a well balanced package. Good juice with excellent potential. 90-92 points and Outstanding!
