Notes:
Moderate wood influence does not unduly hamper the attractiveness of theotherwise fresh and bright earthy and high-toned red pinot fruit suffusednose. The rich and solidly structured medium-bodied flavors possesscopious amounts of mid-palate sap, which is a good thing because theimpressively persistent finish is firm to the point of being chewy. Thisis potentially the best example of the Chevillon Roncires that I have everseen from cask though note that patience will be required. Burghound 90-93 Outstanding!Note: from a 1.0 ha parcel of 45+ year old vines
Bertrand Chevillon called the 2009 a vintage that created "verypowerful, ripe and concentrated wines. We picked from the 11th to the 17thof September under perfect harvest conditions. Sugars ranged from 12.5 to13.5% and we chaptalized nothing. Yields were generous yet by no meansexcessive and the wines possess plenty of dry extract so there is no senseof dilution. The vinification was straightforward and the malos werenormal so it was one of those rare vintages where there was no stress fromstart to finish. As to the wines, 2009 reminds me of 2005 or 1999." The Chevillon wines have a long history of offering some of the best valuewines in all of the Cte d'Or and deservedly so. Readers should knowhowever that the 2009 vintage produced, in several cases, the best examplesthat I have ever seen from cask chez Chevillon, which is saying somethinggiven how many great wines I have reviewed at this address. Also, BertrandChevillon asked me to point out to readers that the domaine has a newwebsite though when I visited the site, it appeared to still be underdevelopment.
