($120) The 2008 Barolo Cannubi bursts from the glass with freshly cut flowers, black cherries, menthol and spices. It is a cool, reserved wine with plenty of Cannubi character. The 2008 is very young, but striking. The delineation, textural elegance and complexity are all first-rate. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033. Advocate 96

Good full red. Knockout nose combines red cherry, rose petal, cinnamon, sage and minerals. At once opulent and juicy, with compelling spice and balsamic notes to the wine's sweet raspberry fruit. Wonderfully sweet and precise wine, silkier than the Monvigliero but also showing outstanding grip and lift. In comparison, the 2007 is as long but a bit more gamey. Tanzer 95
