(Vosne-Romane- Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg) The 2008 Vosne-Romane villages has gotten better and better with each passing vintage, and I feel that this wine has really taken well to the switch from cultured yeasts to indigenous yeasts at the domaine, which was made in the 1998 vintage. The bouquet offers up a wonderful mlange of cherries, red plums, a touch of cocoa powder, a complex base of style, floral tones and a discreet base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and tangy, with a sappy core, fine focus and balance, a whisper of tannin and impressive grip on the tangy and very transparent finish.
