Notes:
This also displays a hint of post-bottling SO2 but again, it's not enough to really mar the wonderfully nuanced nose that is composed of white flower, citrus and oyster shell, all of which also suffuses the seemingly salty medium full flavors that possess plenty of material as well as a distinctly stony, rich, intense and palate staining finish that displays real legs. This stylish and sophisticated offering is terrific and recommended. Burghound 92 - Outstanding!
This excellent domaine consistently has some of the longest lasting malos in Chablis, a region known for having some of the longest in Burgundy. As in 2008, 2009 was no different and though I tasted several very promising wines, most of the Billaud '09s were at the beginning or middle of their malos and thus are not rated here. I was however able to taste the '08s in bottle and while they are perhaps just a touch behind the domaine's '07s, they are still first rate. These are wines to strongly consider for classic, old style Chablis. As to the '09s, Billaud commented that while they should be very good, they certainly are not at the same level as '07 or '08. He further noted that they, at this early stage, reminded him of a mix of 2005 and 2006
