The 2007 Barolo Vigna Marenca flows with layers of sensual dark fruit, menthol and tar in a typical expression of Serralunga richness and power. The wine’s intensity carries through beautifully to the enveloping, textured finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.

I was quite taken with the 2007s I tasted from Giampaolo Pira. The vintage seems to be particularly well-suited to a house style that seeks textural richness and opulence. At the time of my tastings, all of Pira’s 2007s had yet to be bottled. Wine Advocate 93-96
