Wine Spectator:Bright and exciting Nebbiolo, offering mineral, berry and lightly floral aromas. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a fruity, almost jammy center palate. Give this time. Best after 2005. 540 cases made. (JS)

Wine Advocate:The dense ruby/purple-colored 1998 Barolo Pajana reveals copious new oak along with lead pencil, black cherry, blackberry, licorice, and earth aromas. This structured, powerful, full-bodied, chewy wine requires 2-3 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016.

International Wine Cellar:Saturated red-ruby. Sappy, delineated aromas of black cherry, rose petal and licorice. Sweet, dense, layered and deep; superb fruit framed by a rather powerful tannic spine.
