Robert Chevillon A collection spanning 25 Years

Today’s offer from Domaine Robert Chevillon is remarkable because it spans the last 25 years! 1998-2023 | 30+ cases available!
Recently, I acquired an outstanding, pristine private collection of perfectly stored Robert Chevillon. All wines were purchased on release, directly from the importer Kermit Lynch, and moved to a storage facility where they sat for the last 20 or so years. All fills, capsules and labels are perfect.
As a serious wine buyer, it would be impossible to miss Domaine Robert Chevillon - the range of Nuits St. Georges 1er crus always overdelivers! I have been buying for my own cellar longer than memory serves for the simple reason that while there are no Grand Crus in Nuits…Robert Chevillon’s wines provide the argument that some of the vineyards could be elevated.
Attached Excel Sheet (below) or online, is the whole list. I picked two wines from this list to sample and share my experience. The first was the 2003 Perrieres. First of all, there is nothing more satisfying than drinking mature Burgundy! Also, I find this 2004 Burghound quote spot on.

I always remind customers that Burgundy is all about the producer because they work with what they are dealt. A newer collector may focus on what they call the “great vintages.” But with education and wisdom, one comes to understand that buying Burgundy is a layered and nuanced experience. So in this scenario, should someone hypothetically say that 2003 is not a good vintage, I’d just politely ask “What is it that you have tasted?” Ninety percent of the time they haven’t tasted a single thing. It's just something they picked up on the internet.
I hope you’ll trust me when I say, this bottle of Perrieres will definitely change your mind about 2003. Chevillon killed It! At the time, 2003 was the warmest Burgundy had ever seen and the first vintage ever to start picking in August; August 30 for Chevillon. Fast forward now 20 years later and 2023 vintage completely finished picking in August!
The real experience is something quite different. On the nose, I enjoy plum, violets, soy, hints of brown sugar and sous bois. The palate offers beautifully integrated tannins, sweet, elegant, mature red fruit notes which keep drawing me back for another sip. This is exactly why we age Burgundy…it’s absolutely fantastic!
These wines offer that mature Burgundy experience, I can’t recommend these 2003 Chevillon more highly. When you consider the prices, these are some incredible buys. You could easily spend double for 20yr old wine and not get anything better.
After my wonderful experience with the 2003, I popped a 2008 Bousselots. It’s not as integrated as the 2003 yet, but has excellent clarity and I love the 2008 crunch. This is clearly another wine on a stellar trajectory, about to step through the door of its evolution, but there’s absolutely no rush.
