There is a reason Produttori del Barbaresco has been our top-selling Piedmont wine for the past five vintages - it flat-out overdelivers! I'm thrilled to offer the 2022 Barbaresco today, a worthy follow-up to the standout 2021.

The wine needs little introduction, as most of you are already familiar with the quality-to-price ratio. What I find so impressive about Produttori is the consistency it delivers year after year. The wine drinks like a far more prestigious bottle while being priced in line with many regional Langhe bottlings. It strikes a perfect balance between dark fruit, acidity, and tannin, offering a spicy character with brilliant floral complexity.

Piedmont experienced severe drought conditions for a second consecutive year in 2022. Winter brought very little snow, spring remained dry, and summer temperatures ran consistently above average. Rainfall in some areas was 40-50% below normal, reducing yields at many estates by roughly 25%. The result is wines of wonderful concentration - beautiful scents of black fruit and spice while maintaining freshness and energy.

People always ask me when they should drink this. My short answer: with a decant, it is surely enjoyable now, but if you can show some patience - say, three to five years - you will really start to see this wine shine. Time in the cellar allows the tannins to soften and the acidity to integrate, accentuating the overall balance and harmony. This is a serious wine at a not-so-serious price, and it comes with my highest recommendation.
