Marc Colin
I made an offer in mid-July for a couple of Saint Aubin 1er Cru from Marc Colin, and they sold out almost immediately. I had a few of you asking if I could get any more, and although I wasn't able to find any additional Chatenière, I did source a couple of additional cases of the En Remilly. If you missed this one the first time, don't think about it too long…
En Remilly is the most famous of the St Aubin vineyards, arguably made famous by Marc Colin's son Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey (PYCM). Pierre started his Domaine with vineyards given to him by his father, with En Remilly at the very heart of the estate.
It is one of the first vineyards you see as you drive up the road into St Aubin, perched high on the hill above Chevalier Montrachet. It's this steep, rocky, limestone soil that really comes to define En Remilly. Tightly wound in its youth, the wine offers a citrus-leaning nose, often with hints of white flower that work in unison with the mineral-driven intensity it displays in the mouth. Drink En Remilly and you find a lot of that same wet-stone freshness you pay almost double for with a Puligny-Montrachet label on it. This was the wine that started collectors opening their eyes to Saint Aubin, and I have to say, count me as one of them.
I feel that great wines start in the vineyards, and Marc Colin's holdings are some of the very best. You have a combination of old vines, which already promote lower yields, and precise farming, and well, the results speak for themselves. Couple that with the cooler growing season of 2024 and you have a wine that offers the freshness and energy you associate with classic White Burgundy. I've been buying these Marc Colin wines for as long as I can remember, and I buy them every time I see them offered. These are wines that collectors quietly scoop up, because once you know, you know. I've only got a couple of cases available.
At a fraction of the cost of both PYCM and Lamy, this is a no-brainer.
A lively mid lemon. Some perfume to the nose. Succulent and complete, thoroughly satisfying, En Remilly needs water and it got some. This is very good, with admirable concentration and perfect poise. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Oct 2025.

The 2024 Saint-Aubin En Remilly ler Cru comes from 1.5 hectares of vine located on two different terroirs: on the limestone plateau and on the more clayey slopes. It has an enticing nose with citrus peel, pink candy floss and almond scents, discrete but beautifully delineated. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly nutty, slightly Meursault-like entry with a mineral-driven, quite persistent finish. Excellent.
