Hubert Lamy 2024
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Olivier Lamy's wines. He not only put Saint-Aubin on the map, but over the course of the last twenty years he has become one of the most respected vignerons in all of Burgundy. His unrelenting attention to detail and his forward-thinking approach to viticulture have earned him the respect of his peers. I have followed his journey for as long as I've been going to Burgundy. I used to love those days in the cellar when it was just a handful of us. He was always so generous with his time, explaining his process with such passion and precision. I remember having a hard time grasping the concept of the vine planted in the middle of the row as it was completely unheard of at the time. By creating competition among the vines (higher density planting) it is a philosophy that is paying off tremendously now as those vines are starting to mature.
As has been the case for the last three or four years, Olivier is showing only finished wine in bottle to journalists these days. We probably won't see any reviews of the 2024s until many of those same journalists are writing about the 2025s next year. Quite frankly, these wines don't need reviews - they speak for themselves. The cool growing season of 2024 is going to align perfectly with the linear, precise style that defines Domaine Lamy. Quantities are down drastically from last year — and as always, the top cuvées tend to disappear first. Buy these with confidence. They are going to be tremendous!
