Henri Boillot - Bourgogne
I've been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the 2024 Henri Boillot wines since returning from France. I fell in love with the racy acidity and freshness that this difficult vintage produced. Early season frost and poor flowering were two of the main components which got this growing season off to a very slow start — with such a tiny fruit set, what little fruit on the vine was able to reach full maturity despite the limited sunshine over the course of a very wet summer. Most vignerons I visited with had low expectations for this vintage, yet all were very pleased about the quality. This is a classically styled vintage built entirely around freshness and minerality. I heard more than once comparisons being drawn to 2014 — and we all know how good those wines are!

Henri Boillot's Bourgogne Blanc has been an absolute go-to for as long as I can remember, and fans of this wine are going to be quite pleased with this year's offering. It's more tightly coiled than in years past, displaying a citrus-leaning nose with hints of white acacia blossom. On the palate, the energy and density are clearly present, with a finish that leaves that delicious ache along the sides of your jaw. I very much like the linear quality to this wine — the energetic, mineral-driven finish tastes far more like Puligny-Montrachet than a regional Bourgogne. If you can keep your hands off it, a year in the cellar should see this one flesh out beautifully.
This comes with my highest recommendation - In Stock!
Includes some purchases below Meursault and Puligny. A mid lemon yellow colour, lively and concentrated, candied citrus, fresh plum. Very lightly reductive. There is a spicy character too, but the fruit energy drives on through. We are flirting with 2014 says Henri. Drink from 2027-2029. Tasted Oct 2025.
