2024 Henri Boillot
I can't tell you how excited I am for the arrival of this month's container — so many tremendous wines all landing at the same time! Part of the mix is our first wave of 2024 Henri Boillot, which includes the majority of our allocation for the Bourgogne Chardonnay. As in years past, this is always one I struggle to get enough of, and I fear 2024 will be no exception. It’s one I’d suggest buying now as there will be no going back to the well for more later in the year.
Stylistically, this is a wine all about precision, think of it as a baby Puligny-Montrachet. Citrus-leaning, with wonderful freshness and stony minerality, it may say Bourgogne on the label, but it drinks like most people's Puligny-Montrachet and would put many of those bottles to shame. Many of the vignerons I met with last month drew comparisons to 2014, a classic white Burgundy vintage defined by exactly that, freshness, tension, and minerality.
There are a few cases remaining on the domaines flagship wine Clos Mouchere as well as a few new additions, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Meursault Pourzot, Pucelles and Saint Aubin - check out the full offer of Henri Boillot here.
Includes some purchases below Meursault and Puligny. A mid lemon yellow colour, lively and concentrated, candied citrus, fresh plum. Very lightly reductive. There is a spicy character too, but the fruit energy drives on through. We are flirting with 2014 says Henri. Drink from 2027-2029. Tasted Oct 2025.
