2020 Latour Pauillac

Let's be clear: we don't ignore Bordeaux because it isn't delicious. Of course it is. It’s just the absurd pricing and the frustrating allocation games. But yes, also, the endless stream of wines that simply don't deliver. We'd rather focus on Burgundy.
But every now and then, the universe throws you a bone.
A few weeks ago, over one of those long supplier "lunches" that accidentally bleeds into dinner, a bottle of this 2020 Latour appeared. It wasn't a surprise that it was fantastic—it's Latour, after all. The surprise came a week later when that same supplier called and offered us a nice chunk of it at a price that wasn't just fair, it was close to the original ex-château release.
An opportunity like that doesn't just get your attention; it demands action. We took everything we could get.
And the wine? It’s everything you expect from a legend in a great vintage. The nose is a kaleidoscope of dark currant, warm earth, tobacco, and cedar—every swirl reveals a new spice. The palate has that incredible First Growth depth, all wrapped in a polished, seamless texture that makes it pure pleasure to drink even now.
When we offer a Bordeaux, you know it's for a damn good reason. This is a chance to acquire a true benchmark wine without the usual nonsense. This Latour brims with character and class—truly, one to own.

The 2020 Pauillac is superb. The aromatics alone are compelling. Lavender, sage, menthol, black pepper and licorice all jump from the glass. This just screams with Cabernet character. Dark, vibrant and super-expressive, the 2020 is an absolute delight. Its vibrancy and delineation are both admirable. What a gorgeous, gorgeous wine this is.

The 2020 Château Latour Pauillac is clearly outstanding, possessing an undeniable hint of Latour-like class and style. Juicy red and black currants, smoked tobacco, graphite, and lead pencil nuances all shine here, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. It's a beautiful Pauillac that will keep for two decades.
