2014 Piper Heidseick Brut
Once again, today’s offer is the lowest USA pricing! Piper Heidseick is one of those Champagne Houses that oftentimes is overlooked. Unjustly so!... I’ve been drinking these wines for years and I am telling you, they offer excellent bang-for-the-buck when it comes to vintage champagne. If you are overlooking it, you are missing out!
Since its founding in 1785, Champagne House Piper Heidseick has shown its innovative style crafting champagnes with the use of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each vintage wine, only released in excellent years, represents the characteristics that make each vintage great!
Following clement weather in early 2014, an early spring flaunted gorgeous flowering. After particularly cool and humid weather at the beginning of summer, the sun reappeared in mid-August for an Indian summer that lasted until September. The 2014 vintage boasts Chardonnays with sensational crispness and fruity, sophisticated Pinots Noirs.
(55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay). Superb! This has a nose of oatmeal, plum , quince and a hit of lanolin; impressive palate weight, good autolytic definition; richly resonant and long. A delight. Alcohol 12.0%.

55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay. This Piper vintage is a blend of 19 villages, with Pinot Noir coming from the Montagne de Reims, and Chardonnay from both the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Charmingly fruity and inviting nose, with soft vanilla-coated notes of red apple, peach, mirabelle plum and lemon curd, all enveloped in a complex toasty whole. Similarly joyful fireworks of fruit continue on the rich, rounded palate, which is beautifully silky and juicy, with a fine acid line leading to a long, sweetly fruity finish. A seductive vintage ready to impress. Dosage 7g/l.

[$97 list] A perfectly mature Champagne, this is just ready to drink. Fresh fruits contrast with the mature toastiness. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay gives texture plus minerality in harmony. Drink this fine wine now. Alcohol 12%. (Dec 2022)

The 2014 Brut Vintage, a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay with a dosage of seven grams per liter, has turned out nicely with aromas of pear, peach, almonds and smoky hints. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fruity with a delicate mousse, this is a structured, tension-filled but airborne Champagne with high acidity, the sign of a cool weather vintage. Although already thoroughly enjoyable, it should age well over the next five years.
