I'm always in search of value for my clients. In the world of Nebbiolo, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a serious bottle under $100 these days, let alone one under $40!
Produttori is no stranger to the Vins Rare lineup. It's been our #1 selling Italian wine for the last 3 years, and I don't see that changing with the newly released 2022 Produttori del Barbaresco, Barbaresco.
Those of you who have enjoyed the wine understand why. The 2022 is another great example — ripe, bold flavors of dark cherry, plum, spice, and licorice, coupled with impressive depth, all held together by that unmistakable Nebbiolo freshness. Galloni thought it was outstanding, awarding it 93 points and calling it a "stellar showing." What sets this vintage apart is that a good percentage of the wine destined for the Riserva bottlings made it into the regular Barbaresco instead.
There aren't many choices these days for wine with this kind of pedigree at this price. If you enjoy Nebbiolo, this is a hard wine to beat. This wine always sells out, and I wouldn't be surprised if this one is gone by the time it arrives in October.

The 2022 Barbaresco is a pretty rich, heady wine. Dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice and mocha build as the 2022 shows off its considerable depth. This is one of the few 2022s that is quite resonant texturally. The aromatics could be more lifted and the tannins could use a bit more polish, but those qualities were next to impossible to come by in 2022. The inclusion of some juice from Riserva lots is a great help. All things considered, this is a stellar showing.
