Pierre Peters Champagne "Cuvee de Reserve" Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut NV

Pierre Peters Champagne

There are very few names I associate more closely with Chardonnay in Champagne than Pierre Péters.

The family has been farming in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger since the 19th century, and over six generations they have built the domaine almost entirely around one grape and one place: Chardonnay from the chalk of the Côte des Blancs. Today Rodolphe Péters farms just over 19 hectares, principally across Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant.

That kind of specialization matters. Working almost entirely with Chardonnay has given the domaine a very clear sense of what it wants these wines to be. And behind that consistency is one of the more interesting parts of Pierre Péters: its reserve wines.

Cuvée de Réserve sits at the center of it all, blending the current harvest with a perpetual reserve that stretches back more than 20 years. That reserve gives Rodolphe a remarkable library to work with each year, adding maturity and complexity without losing the chalky character that defines the domaine.

From there, the range gets more interesting. Grande Réserve draws Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant and Oger, bringing together four great Grand Cru villages in a wine with a broader, more generous feel. The Extra Brut takes a more direct route, with its lower dosage bringing out a tighter, more mineral side of the Chardonnay—bright citrus, saline notes and a firm chalky finish.

There’s something to be said for a domaine that has narrowed its focus this much and stayed with it. Chardonnay accounts for virtually everything Pierre Péters farms, giving Rodolphe an extraordinary depth of experience with a single grape. When a domaine knows exactly what it does best, all that focus leaves us with some pretty special Champagne to enjoy.

Always hard to keep these wines in stock - secure some of these pre arrivals due in November.

The NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve Grand Cru (base 2023) is laced with sweet floral notes, tropical fruit, green pear and mint. Aromatic and light on its feet, with lovely persistence, the 2023 base is a total delight. It's a fine introduction to the range at this reference-point house. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: November 2025.

  • 100% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, built around Pierre Péters’ Grand Cru vineyards, delivering the domaine’s signature purity, finesse and chalky minerality.

  • Reserve wines add depth and complexity, bringing notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, brioche and subtle toast while maintaining excellent freshness and tension.

  • Elegant yet generous in style, with a fine mousse, bright acidity and long mineral finish. A versatile Blanc de Blancs that works beautifully as an aperitif or alongside oysters, shellfish and lighter seafood dishes.

  • 100% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, Pierre Péters’ home turf, with fruit centered on top Grand Cru villages such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant.

  • Extra Brut dosage gives it a particularly dry, precise profile, emphasizing citrus, green apple, chalk and saline minerality rather than richness or sweetness.

  • Classic Pierre Péters style: fine, energetic mousse with excellent tension and purity, combining Côte des Blancs chalkiness with enough reserve-wine complexity to make it both an excellent aperitif and a strong food Champagne.
