Paul Pernot 2024
I felt like a kid at Christmas when I saw the Paul Pernot Bourgogne Côte d’Or 2024 being wheeled in the other day. This is the first 2024 White Burgundy to arrive, and I could not get it open fast enough.
As I have come to expect from Paul Pernot, that chiseled minerality was on full display. I know it is “just” a Bourgogne, but it delivers exactly what I look for - cut, clarity & precision. I took the bottle home and forgot about it in the fridge without the cork in it. I poured a glass 2 days later, fully expecting to dump the rest, and holy hell, the wine had blossomed. There is a richness to it now while still maintaining its freshness and minerality, which tells me it will really benefit from a couple of years in the cellar. If the Bourgogne is this good, I can only imagine what the 1er Crus will show like when they arrive later this spring.
This is a fantastic wine. Five cases in stock now, with more on the way. The 1er Crus are expected late spring into early summer. No reviews yet, but with nearly twenty years of track record behind these wines, they are absolutely worth owning.
