Domaine Jamet
Pleased to offer one of the great reference points of the Northern Rhône: Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie.
This is a wine I return to whenever I want to remind myself what Syrah can be at its most expressive. I don’t open it nearly as often as I’d like, but every bottle has a way of exceeding expectations. I recently had a bottle of 2005, which could still use more time in the cellar; however, the brilliance and magic it already displayed affirm why these wines are so sought after by collectors.
I think what separates Jamet from so many other producers is the balance, elegance, and restraint it shows. Jamet captures Côte-Rôtie in a more classical register: lifted, detailed, and composed. Rather than leaning into the darker, more extracted style that has become common, this shows a beautiful interplay of red fruit, subtle black tones, and a layered spice profile. There’s a savory edge as well, with dried herbs, olive, and that unmistakable hint of garrigue, all framed by fine structure and a persistent, mineral-driven finish.
It’s a wine that rewards attention but never demands it, equally compelling whether you’re studying it or simply enjoying it over a long meal.
If you appreciate nuance, transparency of terroir, and the kind of quiet complexity that unfolds over time, this is one not to miss. Don’t miss the Syrah and Côtes du Rhône either, as they offer tremendous quality at their price points.
The 2023 Côte-Rôtie begins with pronounced black cherry, forest strawberry and dried violets. A touch of red plum adds further fruit complexity. Midweighted and concentrated, the 2023 shows brilliantly at this youthful stage, delivering fruit-driven allure, ultra-refined tannins and outstanding length. The 2023 jumps at you right away, and while there is assured ageing potential, it will be quite hard to resist in its youth. Outstanding.

The 2024 Côtes-du-Rhône sends its first signal of white pepper, black cherry and leafy tones. Medium-bodied and round, the 2024 is equipped with lively, fresh clarity and cool-toned Syrah expression, lifting the finish with spicy inflections.
