First 2023 White Burgundy Offer
I'm starting to receive my 2023 White Burgundy allocations - it seems like they come earlier and earlier every year. I know the Burgundians were extremely excited about the prospect of the 2023 vintage when I visited last year. They were happy with the quality, but I think more so with the quantity, as there were more barrels in some cellars than I had ever seen!
In the coming months we will begin to see the scores from the critics, which I predict will be in the very good to excellent range. 2023 is a sunny vintage, and when you can harvest ripe fruit with little to no sorting required, the results tend to be excellent. The one thing I’ve learned in doing this for the past 30 years, Burgundy is all about the producer. The good producers perform year in and year out; Michel Niellon, Latour Giraud and Paul Peront are producers at the top of their games. These are going to be among the top White Burgundy produced in 2023.
